Killinghall Arms got their season off the ground with a 7-0 demolition of Hole In The Wall. Killie dominated from the outset scoring their first after ten minutes and at regular intervals thereafter.
Andy Roberts (4) and the impressive Danny Hanafin with three were the scorers but the man of the match award went to full back Keith Simcox. David Abdale was Walls' star man.
The game at Abbey Road between DGSOB and Newton Aycliffe was and end-to-end thriller with the lead exchanging hands at regular intervals. Eventually it was Old Boys who triumphed by the odd goal in nine. Man of the match Mark Sowerby (2), Peter Gray, John Dixon and sub Matthew Yates notched for Old Boys and Lee Bonas (2) and Mark De Luca (2) replied.
Archdeacon joined Old Boys at the top of the table when despite a disappointing performance they managed to overcome DSRMSC Reserves 2-1. Numerous chances went a-begging and Deacon hit the woodwork at three occasions. Tommy Wright was denied a goal when the advantage rule was given but the same player did get his name on the score sheet and James Colgrave notched the winner.
Champions Post Boy were one up at the interval at East End WMC but they found themselves 3-1 in arrears courtesy of two from veteran Roy Winter and sub Darran Watson. Post Boy manage to level but were denied a point when Winter completed his hat trick from the spot in the last minute. Paul Robson (2) and MoM Darren Watson were Post Boy's scorers and Winter received the MoM accolade for the clubmen.
Grey Horse reversed the trend of the previous week in a seven-goal thriller at Haughton School. This time it was they who trailed at half time by three goals to nil to Shuttle and Loom for whom Peter Wilkinson (2) and Chris Airey had scored. Man of the Match Darren Tate then took matters into his own hands and scored four times without reply to give Horse what seemed 45 minutes earlier an unlikely victory.
