A HOME-BRED event horse continued a blossoming career with her biggest win yet at the recent Henbury Hall competition.
Mistic Meg, a seven-year-old mare owned and bred by Liz Simpson of Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, produced a fast cross-country round to take the intermediate section C.
She was ridden by Julie Robinson of Stokesley, who was completing a double success after winning the advanced intermediate with her sister Kirsty Robinson's 16-year-old Just Dominic.
Mistic Meg is the eldest of seven foals out of Mrs Simpson's mare Mistic Minstrel, a fully graded sport horse.
Her victory at Henbury Hall has gained her automatic qualification for the intermediate championship at Gatcombe Park next August.
Mrs Simpson, who rides Mistic Meg in competition for the Darlington and District Riding Club, said: "She has won as a pre-novice, a novice and now as an intermediate. This is her biggest win yet.
"She's a good all-rounder and will ultimately make a top class brood mare."
It was only Mistic Meg's fourth event at the level and her success came despite losing a shoe at the first water.
She will now go on to compete at Allerton Park in a fortnight's time.
