Newton Aycliffe: The Auckland Castle 10k race on August 25 saw five runners from the club compete although marshalling duties prevented higher numbers from racing on the day.

First home for the club, was again the very consistent Michael O'Sullivan in 174th place in a time of 40.44, Brent Morfoot in 206th place in 41.39. A jet-lagged Dave McKenzie had a marvellous run to finish in 46.40, Linda Connolly ran well on the undulating course to do a time of 49.03, and Dawn Gillies put in a fine performance in her first race, and will now be looking forward to her next race outing.

On September 1 Brent Morfoot travelled to North Yorkshire for the Tholthorpe 10k race. The very warm conditions made it hard going, even on a mainly flat course. Over 300 runners took part with Morfoot finishing in 70th place in a time of 42.03.

Darlington Harriers: There was a strong turnout at the Auckland Castle 10km Race on Sunday, August 25.

In an international class field dominated by Kenyan runners, Martin Grainter was first home in 43rd position in a time of 33.57.

Crook & District: Malcolm Ingram had a good run on the undulating course of the Dalton Dash 10 miler, coming home sixth and second vet in a time of 62min 40sec.

Three athletes took part in the Teesdale Triathlon and John Howells was first O-50 and 34th overall out of 180 competitors in a combined time of 93mins 22 secs. Graham Bradshaw's time was 98mins 39secs and Chris Foote-Wood was second O-60 in 110mins 10secs.

Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers: An impressive 25 Harriers turned out for the 10k race in the lovely village of Tholthorpe on a beautiful Sunday morning. The event was won by A Daniel of Scarborough in a time of 32.45, with the first lady runner being Morag McDonnell of Chester in ninth place in 34.53.

Peter Wragg was the first Harrier home in seventh place in 34.48 and he was also first in the V40 category.

There were 306 finishers in what was another event which formed part of the Club Championship series.

The men's team finished in second place, only five points behind Scarborough, and the women's team of Jill Soper, Maureen Gibbs and Karen Hudson finished in an excellent first place.
