POLICE are hunting from for two North-East men who escaped from an open prison at the weekend.
Steven Smart, 28, and Gary Robinson, 27, were reported missing from Wealstun prison in Wetherby, North Yorkshire, at 11pm on Sunday.
Police believe that Smart, from Prudhoe, has returned to his home town.
He was jailed for three years and 11 months at Newcastle Crown Court on April 25 for the possession of drugs with the intent to supply.
Robinson, from the Ford Estate, in Sunderland, was jailed for four years, in September 2000 for robbery and burglary.
Smart is described as 5ft 10in of medium build and has a bulldog tatooo on his right arm, a swallow on his right hand and half a finger missing on his right hand.
Robinson is 5ft 10in, of medium build with short ginger hair.
People have been advised not to approach the men, but to contact the police.
