Les Scott, the landlord of Crook Coach and Horses, starred for his team in their odd point victory in a vital clash at Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B, with both teams eyeing the championship or at least the runners-up spot.
The home side went ahead in the singles when they had two points from Michael Hoggart and Kevin Stewart with one each from Chris Peacock and Paul Willey, whilst the Coach replied with two points from Les Scott and one each from Michael Burke and Alan Moses.
The Coach closed the gap when Aaron Cowan and Michael Burke took the doubles and then Les Scott levelled the match by taking the first captain's point against Michael Hoggart. The Coach landlord clinched victory when he again beat Michael in the second captain's game.
Bishop Auckland RAFA Club went very close to beating title chasing Bishop Auckland King's Head and only failed when they lost the deciding captain's game. The King's had two points from Warren Stamp and one each from Malcolm Parry, David Jacomb, Stephen Bainbridge and Andrew Tuesday whilst the RAFA had one point each from Simon Roberts, Bob Chambers, Stuart Hambleton and David Gaskins. The RAFA closed the gap when Bob Chambers and Simon Roberts took the doubles and levelled when Stuart Hambleton beat Warren Stamp in the first captain's game. However Warren took his revenge in the decider and took the King's to victory.
Crook Olde Horse Shoe lead the table by six points from Crook Coach and Horses with Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B but the Coach have played one more match than the other two.
