THE glamour of Bollywood may be heading down your way.

Plans to film an Indian love story across Teesside and North Yorkshire - with a heavy emphasis in the East Cleveland area - have been unveiled.

Locals are to be given the chance to appear in the musical which would then be seen by a potential audience of millions in India.

An Indian film company has applied for funding from the Northern Film and Media Screen Commission and other sources and is firming up plans for location shoots.

The film would be called Ye Jaan Bhi Tumari, Ye Dil Bhi Pumhara, which translates as My Life is Yours, My Heart is Yours. The story concerns a young student who comes to England from India and falls in love.

Carrie Bainbridge, company director for the film company's British agents Pinnical Promotions, said: "The film representatives came here and spent two days with us looking around the area. They saw High Force, The North Yorks Moors, Whitby, Durham Cathedral and Easby Abbey near Richmond, as well as places like Skinningrove, Redcar and Guisborough and were blown away.

"It really will be fantastic for Teesside and the whole of the North-East. There will be big Bollywood stars heading out from India and it will be massive for the area."

Paul Mingard, of The Northern Film and Media Screen Commission, confirmed he had been approached by the film company. He said: "We were told it would be more a British-Asian collaboration than a traditional Bollywood epic, but nothing is certain yet."

Mrs Bainbridge said models, dancers, singers, actors and members of the public of all ethnic backgrounds were needed for the film. Auditions are being organised. Contact Nadia on (01642) 211385 for details.
