STAFF at energy group Npower's call centres across the North-East are being asked to take 25 per cent pay cuts - or see their jobs moved outside the region.
More than 700 workers at Innogy's electricity and gas arm, which has call centres in Newcastle, Gateshead and Thornaby, are considering whether or not to agree to the reduction in their £13,000 a year salaries.
Their union, Amicus/ AEEU, is currently involved in negotiations with Npower about its proposals, with meetings planned to take place, today, tomorrow and Thursday.
Dave Harrison, regional officer for the union, was unavailable for comment last night but is believed to be involved in this week's meetings between employees and the company.
