A NEW £42,000 sports hall floor was officially unveiled at a community facility last night.
The new floor has been installed at Durham County Council's Stanley Youth Centre.
There were demonstrations of a range of activities that take place in the centre, including hockey, curling and Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme projects.
The Green Corridor Neighbourhood Partnership generated money for the project. The county council also contributed funds.
The floor replaces the old concrete structure and is much more suitable for the activities that take place in the centre.
Martin Lightfoot, area co-ordinator for the council's education in the community, said: "Numerous groups use the centre. It is a real community facility.
"As such, it has been a real community effort to raise funds for this new floor, which will provide an even better resource for the residents of Stanley and the surrounding areas."
