A CHARITY which works with people with mental health problems is celebrating a huge cash boost.
The Northallerton-based Workcrafts Company has secured a £6,000 grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation - and plans to put the money towards its running costs.
Workcrafts Company provides a safe place for its members to improve their confidence and skills by taking part in educational activities.
The charity has more than 30 members who take part in various activities, including woodwork, furniture restoration and repairs.
A small group of members also produce and distribute One in Four, a magazine which provides information on mental health issues. Nearly 2,000 people in Hambleton and Richmondshire receive a free copy of the magazine every quarter.
The donation will be invested in main running costs, including office equipment and the production costs of the magazine.
Company secretary, Kath Ledder, said: "We are thrilled with this donation from the Lloyds TSB Foundation. It will help us to continue to give people with mental health problems the chance to learn new skills and increase their self-esteem."
Stephen Peaker, senior branch manager of Lloyds TSB in Northallerton, said: "Workcrafts Company provides a vital base for local people with mental health problems to rehabilitate and hopefully return to paid employment.
"The Foundation is committed to supporting charities which challenge discrimination and disadvantage within the area of mental health - I am very pleased that it can lend its support to Workcrafts Company."
