A NEW headmaster has taken up his post at a 125-year-old North Yorkshire boys' boarding school.
Anthony Goddard, 47, and his wife, Caroline, have moved into Aysgarth Preparatory School, near Bedale, with their three children.
Mr Goddard has prior experience of Aysgarth as both a parent and former governor, and previously held a senior position at ICI, on Teesside.
He comes from a family of schoolmasters and was also a governor of Tudor Hall, a leading girls' public school near Banbury.
Mrs Goddard, who recently worked as a special needs teacher at a London day school, will be responsible for pastoral care at the 190-pupil Aysgarth School.
Mr Goddard said: "Caroline and I feel privileged to be taking on these roles, especially as we are inheriting a school which is thriving.
"We are looking forward to building on its success and traditions to keep it among the leading boys' prep schools in the country."
