A MINI fanatic from the North-East is preparing to take part in a mile-long challenge to raise money for the National Children's Home.
Glen Harvey, from Darlington, is driving his treasured Rover Mini 30 to Warwickshire to take part in the national Mile of Minis challenge. His beloved car will join other Minis in the small village of Gaydon to create a mile-long string of the classic motors.
All those taking part have been sponsored, with all the money raised going to charity.
Next month, Mr Harvey hopes to take part in the international Italian Job race next year, which will also raise money for the NCH. This challenge involves following an international route inspired by the Michael Caine film.
Pupils and staff at both Branksome Comprehensive School and Mount Pleasant Primary School are holding fundraising events to raise money for Mr Harvey's challenge and he has also approached a number of local businesses to help him raise as much money as possible. Anyone who would like to sponsor Mr Harvey for either challenge can call 07970 302121.
