CHARITY HELPERS: Philippa Nevins, ten, from North Bitchburn, Crook, and her friend Melissa Hope organised a sale in aid of Cancer Research and raised £20.
SHOW DATE: Crook RAFA Club, in North Terrace, is holding a leek, vegetable and flower show on Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds from the auction of exhibits on Sunday, at 9.30pm, will go towards the RAFA wings appeal.
PRIZE LEEKS: The result of the Green Tree Leek Show, in Howden-le-Wear, was: 1 David Quinn, 2 William Johnson, 3 Peter Jones. The best leek prize went to David Quinn, and the best exhibit in show prize to Dennis Jones' two dressed onions. Overall winner was William Johnson, with 83 points.
HARVEST FESTIVAL: Crook Methodist Church holds a harvest festival services on Sunday at 10.30am and 6pm. A harvest sale takes place on Monday, at 7pm, with a concert by the Reminiscence Ladies' singing group.
