Durham City Ladies: Durham progressed through to the next stage of the FA Cup with a good win against Yorkshire team Osset Albion.
City started superbly and were all over the visitors, after 20 minutes it seemed as if it would be a walk over as Durham cruised to a three-goal lead. Mel Jones started the scoring with a great strike and then Helen Richardson added two more.
Just before half time the tie seemed all over when Richardson completed her hat-trick. However, in the second half Albion mounted a come back. After a sloppy goal, Albion scored a wonderful second to make the score 4-2.
In the last few minutes the visitors made it 4-3, but it was too little too late and City progressed into the next round.
Manager Stephen Hamil was delighted with the result. He said: "We've had a tough start to the season, but some of the local non-league men's clubs have been very supportive to us.
"Stewart Dawson from Durham City has managed to get the girls home and away strips for the season and has let us use their club for training and hospitality purposes. Steve Buddell from Crook Town helped out with letting us have their pitch for the FA Cup tie.
"It is great to have a little bit of support from some of the regions men's clubs and it is much appreciated."
South Durham Royals: Royals have made an encouraging start to the season, they entertained Darlington RA and put all their chances away to win 5-1.
Then they were at home to Durham City and after ten minutes Tracey Swales picked the ball up on the left wing and carried it forward, dribbling past two defenders along the way then slotted it past the keeper to make it 1-0.
Two minutes later Caz Ross had the ball passed from midfield by Karen O'Connor and held off a strong challenge from the centre-back, turned and stuck it in the left corner to score the second.
Durham put ball on the centre spot and immediately lost possession, Swales again taking on the Durham defence and placing the ball perfectly in the top corner of the Durham net for 3-0.
Royals continued to outplay Durham and after 30 minutes Kayleigh Harker carried the ball forward from defence and presented Caz Ross with the perfect pass to turn the defence and shoot to make it 4-0.
After some good passing from football in the second half Jodie Guynn pushed forward from defence to convert a Katie Hewitson pass from the right wing and take a well deserved goal - final score 5-0.
Chester-le-St. Ladies: Chester won 6-1 at Tadcaster Albion in the FA Cup on Sunday. Chester took the game to Tadcaster and within eight minutes Laura Darmody's gave the Cestrians the lead and just after the 20 minute mark she added her second of the game before the hosts scored an own goal to put Chester 3-0 up.
Cestrians made it four when Rachel Weightman picked the ball up on the left and ran at the defence, taking the ball around a static full-back before letting go a 30-yarder and then Laura Gibbon notched to make it 5-0 at half time.
Tadcaster pulled a goal back in the second half and Chester-le-Street lost their concentration, but they had the last laugh when Darmody grabbed her hat-trick goal.
The game was a great advert for women's football, played on fantastic facilities in the meaning of the game,
