Stepy's Coaches Durham Sunday League: A lot of the clubs were taking part in the Durham County Sunday Cup but Meadowfield Brancepeth Castle entertained Sherburn Lambton Arms in the only Premiership game.
Meadowfield, who now play their home games at Brandon United's Northern League ground, took an early lead through Tony Hanson, Hanson who added a further two more goals to claim his hat-trick, followed by a strike from John Harrison. The Lambton replied with goals from Chris Peacock and Tony Simpson. The win puts the Brancepeth Castle top of the League.
In the First Division Sacriston WMC entertained Brandon Bay Horse and goals from Jason Kelly (2) and Gary Ovington were not enough for Sacriston as the Bay Horse finished 4-3 winners.
Washington Sports travelled to Belmont Sportsmans Arms and goals from Mark Rutter and Paul Kindon gave the visitors the three points. Phill Lloyd replied for the Sportsmans.
In the Second Division Newton Hall Jovial Monk entertained Langley Park WMC and the points were shared in the 0-0 draw.
Leaders in the Third Division, Gilesgate Moor Hotel, maintained top spot with a 5-2 win over visitors Washington Honest Boy, Alan Brumwell and Paul Cockburn scoring for the Honest Boy.
Second-placed Newton Aycliffe WMC moved within two points of the leaders with a fine 8-1 win at Gilesgate Moor Brittania Inn and top marksman on the day was Andy Ryder who hit five goals, Scott Brassel added a brace and Tony Young also scored while Graham Thompson notched Brittainia's consolation.
In the Fourth Division leaders Pittington maintained top spot with a 2-1 win over the much-improved Bearpark WMC. Brian Colledge and David Vanbuten scored for Pittington, with Simon Waggott replying for Bearpark.
Brandon Sports, currently in second place entertained new boys to the League, Durham Pot and Glass and goals from Micheal Fort (2), Keith Lonsdale and Tony Keogan gave the Sports Club victory and maintained second spot.
Waterhouses were 3-1 winners at Langley Park Sports and Social with Mark Welsh, Jon McCormick and Paul Taylor scoring and Paul McAadam replying for the Social Club.
A hat-trick from Mark Kirkup plus a strike from Jon Parkinson gave Esh Winning Cricket Club the Points in the 4-2 home win over Lumley Sports and Social, Richard Kay and Peter Burlinson scoring for Lumley.
