The summer holidays have been a busy times for Teesside's young swimmers.
A total of 60 8-10 year olds have taken part in a number of Active Sports Swimming Events across the Boroughs of Stockton and Redcar and Cleveland. All of which were a success and provided swimmers who enjoy swimming through school and pool lessons with an introduction to the ways in which swimming clubs organise, coach and train their young people.
Initially the youngsters took part in a swimming festival and were later selected to take part in a development camp.
The camps took place over four days and consisted of a number of swimming skills and techniques. Guisborough Swimming Club and Saltburn and Marske Swimming Club worked alongside the Teesside Sport Partnership to deliver two separate camps on Redcar and Cleveland, whilst Stockton Swimming Club and Billingham Swimming Club took control of the coaching within Stockton. The involvement and commitment of these clubs has given the five year development programme a fantastic start, with many of the swimmers now looking to become members of their local swimming club.
