A MOTHER whose young daughter was abducted and tortured by two teenage girls has condemned their sentence as disgusting.
The six-year-old was snatched just yards from her home and subjected to a terrifying hour-long attack.
The callous pair threatened to kill the girl if she cried by sticking her up a tree and leaving her to die.
Her abductors, now 15 and 16, even telephoned the girl's mother to boast they had her daughter captive and laughed while the terrified child suffered an asthma attack.
But both girls escaped detention when they appeared at Blaydon Youth Court.
They were sentenced to a nine-month referral order to Gateshead Young Offenders Team after pleading guilty to false imprisonment and common assault.
Yesterday, the victim's 36-year-old mother said: "I am disgusted and it makes me angry because I think they deserved a spell behind bars.
"They nearly killed my daughter. What are they going to do next?"
The six-year-old was abducted just a few feet from her home in Gateshead in April, grabbed by the hair and slapped across the face.
The teenagers then demanded her telephone number and warned they had already killed another girl by pulling her heart out. The horrified child was hit, spat on, had cigarette ash flicked in her hair and lipstick smeared on her face during the assault.
One of the teenagers used a mobile phone to call the child's home and said: "We've got your daughter in the field."
The panic brought on an asthma attack but the girls just laughed and said: "You should have used your inhaler before you came out."
