SWIMMERS in Darlington have raised £6,500 for Macmillan Cancer Research.
About 200 people, of all ages, took part in the annual Swimathon at the Dolphin Centre to raise money for cancer research. The leisure centre has hosted the sponsored swim for more than ten years and those taking part this year raised more than ever before. One of the oldest competitors was Mary Slater, 78, of Darlington, who is a regular at the Dolphin Centre. All the money raised during the two-day event in March will go towards the national target of £2m.
