A PUBLIC meeting has been held to discuss moves to twin Richmond with the French town of St Aubin du Cormier.
Town clerk Dr Peter Clarke said the meeting was "enthusiastic" about forming links with the town in Brittany, which has much in common with Richmond.
Both were founded around an ancient castle and have links with the dukes and earls of Richmond and Breton.
The English also supplied hundreds of archers who fought alongside the Bretons against French troops in 1488. A group is to be formed to take the project forward, separate from the existing twinning group which works with the Norwegian links.
Anyone interested in being involved should contact Dr Clarke on (01748) 850808.
