A Northallerton woman's Welsh springer spaniel was crowned top dog at the 'Crufts of the North' on Sunday.
All the main winners from the three-day annual Darlington Championship Dog Show competed in the final but it was Cleavehill Brynberrys who impressed the judges the most.
The bitch owned by Jean Taylor had taken part in the gundog group of the competition.
Championship judge Bob Young said: "The competition was fantastic and the whole show was well organised.
"The dogs lining up there were all worthy winners and some of the puppies are obviously going to be champions of the future.
"I have judged competitions on 15 different countries and I still maintain that dogs bred in this country are the best."
During the three-day show more than 10,000 animals were paraded at the specially prepared site in South Park.
Dogs and their owners came from all over the country and Europe to take part in the event which is the biggest dog show in the region. Judges also flew in from around the world to take part in the show, which is run to Kennel Club rules.
