A SUCCESSFUL digital factory project in Newton Aycliffe played host to a VIP guest this week.
Euro-MP Stephen Hughes visited The Digital Factory, on the town's industrial estate, to check on progress and view some of the new technology being employed there.
Bishop Auckland College's centre offers some of the most advanced technology in the North-East to schools and businesses.
IBM invested £1m of equipment in the project when it opened last year.
College principal Joanna Tait, who took Mr Hughes on a tour of the building, said: "In today's knowledge-led economy it is vital that local businesses, entrepreneurs and training providers have at their disposal a place such as this. The Digital Factory is an important facility for the region and we will continue to improve and update its services, in conjunction with IBM."
