AN investment of £10m across the country has secured funding for a training programme in the Tees Valley for the next two years.
Some of the money from the Learning and Skills Council will help to fund the Tees Valley Lifelong Learning Partnership which represents Learning Partnerships in Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Cleveland and Stockton.
Learning Partnerships are voluntary, independent organisations made up of representatives from education and training organisations and local authorities.
The partnerships represent learners' interests and try to encourage more people to return to education.
Roy Brown, chairman of the Tees Valley Learning Partnership, said: "We are pleased that the Government is continuing to support Learning Partnerships.
"Collaboration between providers of all types of learning is very important if we are to improve access to learning and overall achievement levels.
"The commitment to Learning Partnerships will ensure we have a strong voice and effective communication links with the key organisation responsible for the planning and funding of post-16 education and training - the Learning and Skills Council."
