AGE CONCERN is offering advice to elderly people at a free event at the Union Place Communal Hall, Morley Crescent, Kelloe, next Tuesday.
The session, run in partnership with Durham City Council and Durham Police, covers information affecting elderly people, from benefits to healthy lifestyles and crime prevention. There will be a raffle and musical bingo. The session takes place from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
WE'RE OPEN: Sherburn Village Primary School's adventure play unit and trim trail will be opened on Monday. The development, costing £15,000, has received grants from the Awards for All programme and Sherburn Parish Council.
ON TOUR: Guided tours of the medieval and Jacobean parts of Durham's Crook Hall and its walled gardens will be held on Sunday. Crook Hall is open between 1pm and 5pm, and tours will take place at 2pm and 3.30pm. Admission is £3.80 for adults, £3 for concessions and £9.80 for a family ticket. For details, call 0191-384 8028.

DONOR DATES: Blood donor sessions will be held tomorrow at St Nicholas Church Hall, Willow Avenue, Dunston, and at Elemore Community Centre, Brickgarth, Easington Lane, between 3pm and 7pm.
CHARITY SALE: Elvet Charities Supporters Group will hold a "something for everyone'' sale on Saturday, September 28, at The Institute, Church Street, Durham, starting at 2pm. Admission costs ten pence and proceeds will go to the charities taking part.
ADVICE SESSIONS: Durham Citizens Advice Bureau is holding village outreach sessions at Brandon House, Brandon, on Monday, between 11am and noon, at Bowburn Community Centre next Tuesday, from 11am to noon, and on Thursday, September 26, at Esh Winning Community Centre between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. PHOTO FINISH: Durham Photographic Society meets tomorrow at 7.30pm in the Shakespeare Hall, North Road, Durham when a members' slide knock-out competition will be held.
GUITARIST GIG: Virtuoso guitarist Russ Tippins and his band will be performing in the O'Neill's Irish bar in Claypath, Durham, tomorrow, starting at about 9pm. Admission is free.
TEA DANCE: A tea dance will be held in Sherburn Sports Centre, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm today. Admission is £1.30, including tea and biscuits, and everyone is welcome.
