A SCAFFOLDER'S bungled attempt at a reunion with his ex-girlfriend ended in a broken window, violence and a bill for more than £400.
Magistrates in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, heard how drunken Asa Sutcliffe remembered a week-old invitation to go to see his former girlfriend.
When he got to Westlea Avenue, Harrogate, Sutcliffe, 26, got no answer at the door - so threw a penny at a window where he could see a light.
Unfortunately, his solicitor Geoffrey Rogers explained, the coin broke the window, and Sutcliffe, of North Lodge Avenue, Harrogate, added to the commotion when he stumbled into milk bottles.
When challenged by resident Stuart Young, Sutcliffe turned violent and abusive, and when his ex-girlfriend's father, taxi driver Derek Robinson, arrived in his cab there was a fracas.
Mr Rogers said Sutcliffe had not been looking for trouble.
Sutcliffe pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and damage and was fined £300 with £55 costs and £76.38 compensation for the window.
