TWO worthy causes have been presented with cheques by the former chairman of Richmondshire District Council, Jane Metcalfe.
Most councillors who take on the role nominate charities to benefit from any fundraising events they arrange during their year in office.
Mrs Metcalfe chose Richmond Mental Health Support and St John Ambulance, which both received £700.
Coun Metcalfe said: "My association with both charities goes back to my year as Mayor of Richmond.
"I helped form the Richmond Mental Health Support group and have had a close association with the Richmond Lady Serena James St John Ambulance Group. I have great admiration for both the charity workers and the organisations they represent.
