On Sunday Fulwood are up against teams from Jesmond Lawn Tennis Club, Gosforth and Shotley and Benfieldside club with the winning team progressing to the Peugeot inter-club challenge regional final which will be held at David Lloyd, Renfrew on October 8.
The area finals have been introduced this year by Peugeot in order to make the inter-club challenge more competitive and exciting.
Over 1,600 people from 403 clubs will have taken part in the tournament nationwide. The overall winning team of four will each be given the use of a Peugeot car for three months and the winners and runners-up will win a Peugeot bicycle - Wilson tennis sportwear will also be given as prizes.
Former British No 1 Jeremy Bates said: "It is great to see so many club tennis players take part in the Peugeot inter-club challenge. The introduction by Peugeot of the area and regional finals offers players a new goal to achieve making each game more competitive and exciting. This is great for tennis at club level.
"I hope that Yarm have a successful game at David Lloyd Teesside in the area finals. I am sure with the added incentive of getting to play in the sunshine at La Manga Club, Spain, if they make the grand final, they will all give 100 per cent.
