Five sides from the U16 division were involved in the Durham County U16 Cup and four of the results were as a result of a golden goal.
Redheugh just edged South Moor 4-3, Birtley finished 3-2 in front of South Shields, Barnard Castle sent Blackfyne out of the competition also by a 3-2 margin while Consett lost interest at Darlington Allstars, who were 4-3 winners. The most clear-cut result involved Waldridge Park, who lost 6-2 to Leam Rangers.
There was some League action in the U16 division, with both Cleveland Hall and Wylam picking up victories. Strikes from Liam Docherty (5), Chris Morris (2) and Anthony Falcon (2) helped Cleveland defeat Beamish 9-0 while Aidan Sutcliffe scored all four goals in Wylam's 4-0 victory at Rutherford.
In the U17 division, the highest score was recorded by Swalwell, who sent Rutherford crashing to a 9-1 defeat. Gary Andrews rifled in five goals and Lee Summerside bagged a brace.
A hat-trick by Daniel Graham was the highlight of Leam Rangers' 4-2 win at Felling Magpies for whom Anthony Thompson scored twice. Blaydon finished 3-2 winners at Wear Valley when Michael Robinson scored a couple of goals for the Tynesiders.
A brace from Robbie Blevins enabled Blackfyne gain maximum points from West Denton, while Consett won 3-2 at Prudhoe. Redheugh ended 3-1 ahead of Montague Boys Club.
Thirsk Falcons
Thirsk Falcons U 10s travelled to Bedale for their first game of the season. Thirsk A played some excellent football throughout the encounter and deservedly came out 4-1 winners. A brace from Nick Newcombe and further goals from Ryan Mckendry and Dan Easton cemented victory for Thirsk A.
Thirsk's 'B' team drew their game, meanwhile,scoring Thirsk's only goal in what was an end to end match.
But Thirsk were unable to hold onto their narrowlead and Bedale found an equaliser from the penalty spot to make the score 1 - 1.
