Chris Alderton, the Hartlepool swimmer, has just returned from Cambridge where the Great Britain Short Course Championships were held. Chris qualified for three events.
In the 1500m Freestyle - Junior(16&under) - he won the Gold Medal and Trophy, and finished fifth in the open (all ages) event in a time of 15.35.54.
In the 400m Freestyle he was a Silver medallist as a junior and 13th in the Open event.
In the 200m Breaststroke he was fourth in Junior event and 15th in the Open event.
Chris was also awarded Top Junior Boy trophy for the 1500m event and time.
And his mother, Janet, said: "We had found out just days before going to Cambridge that he was on the World Class Potential squad for the second year running.
"While there it was confirmed to Chris that he has been selected to represent Great Britain at the coming World Cup Meets in Shanghai and Melbourne, followed by a training camp on the Australian Gold Coast, to be held just before Christmas.
"We are all absolutely thrilled and delighted for Chris who has worked tirelessly towards achieving his goal of representing his country.
"We would like to thank Chris's form tutor at St Hilds Church of England School, Hartlepool - Mrs Seddon for her support and efforts, and also the rest of his teachers. We would also like to thank Cleveland community foundation for their support."
