In the First Round of the Durham City AFC Supporters Trophy, one of the favourites to do well in the Competition Newton Aycliffe Wmc crashed out of the competition losing 6-2 at Washington Dunlop.
Four goals from Gary McCartney and one each from Dave Mathews and Craig Howe put Dunlop through.
Durham had Michael Eiles and Paul Newman dismissed from the field, Tony Taggert took advantage scoring a fine hat trick and goals from Dean Morgan, Tomassi Pucci, Carl Tingley, Bradley Louis and Wesley Hood.
A goal each from Paul McVittie and Chris Attey was not enough for the Britannia as they were beaten 5-2 by visitors Bearpark Wmc.
New Herrington Flighters earned a place in the next round with a hard fought win at Sacriston Wmc Michael Murphy and two from top Marksman Dave Heron. Holders of the Trophy Houghton Glendale won easily at Ferryhill Black Bull 7-1. A double hat trick for Chris Hall and Phil Oliver plus Fred Patterson solo strike put the Glendale through. Dave Box scored the consolation goal for Hetton New Inn as they were beaten 2-1 at Washington Lambton Village.
Brandon Bay Horse were 3-2 winners over visitors Esh Winning Cricket Club. Gilesgate Moor Hotel recorded their biggest win in the competition travelling to Langley Park Wmc they were 10-2 winners thanks to goals from Neil Armstrong, Mark Wild, Jamie Welch two each from Craig McManus and Allan Bowery plus a hat trick from Laurie Hallas.
In the Premier Division Meadowfield Brancepeth Castle maintained top spot, with two goals from John Harrison in a 2-1 win at Burnmoor Cricket Club.
Sedgefield St Edmunds were 5-3 winners over visitors Admiral Heating thanks to a Brian Fairhurst hat trick and two fine strikes from John Maddison. In the big game of the day Hetton Lyons Cricket Club entertained Murton Village Inn, the home side winning 3-0 Neil Burns, Ben Ryan and Andy Bowes scoring for Hetton.
The Lambton Arms top Marksman Tony Simpson was on top form again as they beat visitors Coxhoe Wmc 4-1 Simpson scoring two, Graham Best and Sub Dale Robinson adding further goals.
In the only game in the First Division Chester Garden Farm were too strong for visitors Bowburn Cooperage , Michael Bruce hit (4),one each from Mark Brown and Michael Graver,
In the Third Division Byers Green Wmc won 4-1 at the Glenddening Arms. Kirk Merrington Half Moon crashed to a 6-3 home defeat by visitors Houghton Comrades.
Ferryhill Wmc were 5-2 winners at Houghton Chilton Lodge and in the Fourth Division Chester Horners were 3-1 winners over visitors Pittington Fc. Waterhouses beat the Pot and Glass 4-2 and Birtley William Hotel were 3-1 winners over visitors Lumley Snooker Club.
