Worthington CIU Summer Singles
Ifirst semi-final Dave Walker and Ronnie Peacock, both of Wheatley Hill, were drawn together and opted to play on their own table instead of a neutral table, with Alan Greener of Sherburn Village the referee. Ronnie broke off in the first frame with what seemed a reasonable safety shot but Dave put in a 30 break. From that point Ronnie was subjected to tight safety and never got back into the frame, which he lost by 64-9.
The early stages of the second frame were close but then Dave Walker edged ahead steadily until he left Ronnie Peacock needing snookers with the colours remaining. Ronnie failed with an attempted snooker and Dave went in to clear the colours to win 84-25.
The third frame was by far the closest with the lead constantly changing hands. Ronnie Peacock took the yellow and green but then missed a comparatively easy brown, allowing Dave Walker to take the brown and blue. Ronnie had a good chance to take pink and black but went in-off the pink, leaving it in the jaws of the pocket, Dave tapped it in for a 63-47 frame win and a three frames to nil victory. In the final Dave Walker will meet the winner of the match between Jimmy Evans of Shotton Palms and Scott Mallaburn of Sherburn Village.
