The Autumn Coast 5k road race saw the Aycliffe junior men performing really well at New Marske.
The three 16-year-olds, trained by ex-top class runner Paul Harker, all finished in the top 50. Latest recruit Lewis Moses was particularly outstanding in 10th place for 16.23, with Mathew Bell 14th, not far behind in 17.02 and Adam Harker in 47th place for his 19.36. Also going well on the night were George Reid in 36th place 18.50, Dave McKenzie 76th and 22.33, Georgette Reid 77th in 22.38, Kelly Turnbull 85th in 23.09 and Joan Miller 106th in 29.42.
In the Shildon fun run recently Ross Latham finished 17th overall, running against many older competitors eight-year-old Ross charged round the three mile course to finish in the top half of a really strong field of runners. The Billingham 10k saw four runners turning out, with top honours going to Mike O'Sullivan who stormed round in 41.12, ahead of Brent Morfoot in 41.33, Dave Mckenzie managed 45.42 and Dave McDonald 53.16. A very tough course awaited runners at the Castleton Show, with Pete Milburn leading the way for a sixth place finish in 30.03, Mike O'Sullivan and Brent Morfoot ran identical times for 43.41, Sue Milburn returning from injury as second lady in 46.32, Kevin Greenall 46.59, John Burnside 47.01, Dave McKenzie 52.22, Ray Todd 55 mins, Pat Edwards as 4th lady 55.30, Anne McLoughlin and Diane Caine 58 mins and Margaret Greenall 60 mins.
In the Castle Eden Walkway series Aycliffe had lots to smile about with 4 medal winners overall. Kevin Greenall took gold in the o/40 category, with Richard Harvey gold in the o/60, Sue Milburn gold in the female 0/40 and Margaret Greenall taking the bronze in the same category. The final race saw Pete Milburn dominant in 18 mins, ahead of Brent Morfoot 19mins, Kevin Greenall and Mike O'Sullivan in 21 mins, John Burnside and Sue Milburn in 22 mins, Pat Edwards 24 mins and Margaret Greenall.
