CIU League
Byers Green visited Cockton Hill in the First Round of the Knock Out Cup and had their chances to go through but eventually went pout in the deciding pool game, which they should have won. The home side had edged through to take the darts section by the odd point at 3-2 but then the Green went ahead with a 4-1 victory in the dominoes section. On the pool table the scored were level at 2-2 all making the overall match score 7 each. Hence the result hinged on the final pool game between the Hill's Billy Steele and the Green's Keith Waterhouse.
Keith managed to force two visits out of Billy and took his last reds but then used his second visit to try a very awkward black when he could have rolled up for a snooker. The black missed and Billy thankfully took advantage to take Cockton Hill to victory.
The other two matches in the First Round were more one-sided as Ferryhill beat the visiting Victoria 11-4, whilst Willington beat the visiting Chilton 12-3.
The draw for the quarter finals is Cockton Hill v Ferryhill; Willington v Prospect; Crowtrees v Newfield and Middlestone Moor v Crook Belle Vue.
The draw for the second qualifying stage of the League Pool Singles, with the winners going through to Finals Night, is Terry Wray (Ferryhill) v Colin Pratt (Victoria); Steve Wray (Ferryhill) v Paul Trow (Willington); Kenny Plumpton (Willington) v Steve Webster (Ferryhill); Lane Sample (Prospect) v Wayne Bowman (Middlestone Moor).
Willington Ladies League
Jean Midgeley of Willington Black Horse A set the target for the best check-out when she finished on 120 in the home match against Willington Burn. However Jean's good finish did not inspire her team-mates for the visitors went on to win by three points. Willington Club B are commanding the darts section and they went six points clear following the three points victory at Hunwick Joiners Arms. The Willington Club B side are in second place but were beaten by the visiting Sunnybrow Brown Trout, who join Willington Lion and Unicorn in joint third place.
Willington Cottles moved two points clear in the dominoes section after only dropping one point to the visiting Willington Market. Willington Burn and Hunwick Joiners Arms share second place, two points ahead of Sunnybrow Brown Trout.
