A wine tasting group is being set up in Chilton Library, which will bring together members of the village library and people who use Durham County Council's house-bound library service.
Denise Tyerman, community development officer for the council's cultural services, said: "The group will be made up of six Chilton library members and six users of the housebound service.
"The idea is for the group to meet once a month to sample wines and food from a particular region and have the opportunity to see books and information from that region.
"It will also mean people who don't normally have the chance to visit a library will be able to meet with new people."
The first meeting, supported by the Asda supermarket chain, will be held in the library today.
