POLICE have questioned a Bishop Auckland man following an alleged assault in a street on a 40-year-old man.
The victim was treated for head injuries in Darlington Memorial Hospital following the incident outside the Late Shopper, in Proudfoot Drive, Woodhouse Close estate, Bishop Auckland, at 4.50pm on Wednesday. Police made an arrest later the same night and released a man on short-term bail while they make more inquiries. Witnesses and anyone with information are asked to call police on (01388) 603566.
SPANISH COURSE: Greenfield Community and Arts Centre in Newton Aycliffe is looking to establish a beginners Spanish course. Anyone interested in learning basic conversational Spanish can enrol on the eight-week course, starting on Tuesday, October 15, from 5.15pm to 6.15pm. JUMBLE SALE: Ingleton Village Hall will host a jumble sale on September 27, at 6pm. Proceeds will be in aid of St Teresa's Hospice and the village hall. There will be a cake stall and raffle.
CHERNOBYL CONCERT: There will be a concert held in Mickleton Village Hall, at 7.30pm, on Saturday, to raise funds for the Chernobyl Children's Project. VILLAGE SALE: Newsham Village Hall will hold a car boot and table top sale on Sunday to raise funds for the village hall. The event will be held between 10am and noon and admission will be 20p. Refreshments will be available.
