A safety campaign has been launched by a housing provider urging workers to prevent hand injury by wearing the right protective gloves.
A poster showing a gashed hand covered in blood spearheads the Lovell campaign.
The poster has gone out to all Lovell offices nationwide, including the Yarm branch.
Nick Lawrence, Lovell divisional health and safety manager, said: "Our accident records for 2001 show that hands and fingers were the most common body parts injured.
"More than a quarter of all injuries involved the hand. Most were cuts and the vast majority could have been prevented if the person had worn protective gloves. A hand injury can lead to permanent loss of function and may mean you never work again."
