One of North Yorkshire's picture-postcard villages has been judged the best in the county.
Glaisdale in the Esk Valley on the North York Moors has been named as Village of the Year in a competition run by the Yorkshire Rural Community Council and Calor Gas.
The award presentation will take place next month - but already the 530 residents are making their plans for the national final.
Nearly half the marks for the village came for its overall smart look - while the rest came from the amenities for residents and the quality of life enjoyed by local people.
"We are very much a working village," said Dr Peter Horne, who masterminded the entry with a team of other villagers.
"We have a splendid mix of residents. Some are retired, others are young families who live and work in the national park, while others are commuters - we even have a Concorde pilot."
The village also has a variety of local businesses and many clubs and societies.
Parish council chairman John Thompson said: "We are really proud to have won this award and we are now going all out to become the national Village of the Year."
