A £750,000 revamp has been completed at Lady Lumley's School, Pickering, to give its 1017 students - the highest ever on the roll - better facilities.
The school, which has a reputation for being one of the leading secondary schools in North Yorkshire, has new ICT rooms, five new classrooms, a new common room, reception area, and a refurbished dining hall and kitchens.
An administration block has been built together with a link-corridor lift and central staircase and senior staff offices, said the head teacher, Norman Corner.
"We are continuing our ambitious plans to further enhance our buildings and facilities" he said.
North Yorkshire County Council architects have also drawn up plans to complete the sixth form and community learning centre.
Mr Corner said that while much of the funding for the project was coming from the county education authority, the school itself had helped pay for the work with fund-raising events and other activities organised by the Friends of Lady Lumley's.
