PLANNING permission has been granted for a shopping centre on a new Newton Aycliffe estate.
The centre in the Cobbler's Hall area of town will include a care home, children's nursery and ten shops.
Developer Calderwood Property Investment has released an artist's impression of the proposal, which should create 150 jobs.
The children's nursery will employ 12 full-time staff and cater for between 50 and 100 children.
The residential care home will have 31 beds and employ 31 staff.
The shops will create 90 full-time and part-time jobs and will include a convenience store, bookmakers, health and beauty shop and a number of takeaway food shops.
Members of Sedgefield Borough Council's development control committee approved the application yesterday.
