A TEENAGER who wore lots of clothes to appear beefy has been cleared of a sex assault.
Christopher Gill, 19, was wearing two of almost everything and four pairs of socks, because his shoes were too big, when he stripped and climbed into a bed where two girls were sleeping.
But he fled leaving a pile of clothes when one girl awoke and cried out in alarm. Near naked Mr Gill was arrested in a police station where he ran to beg a lift to his home.
He claimed that he and a 20-year-old brunette, who he talked to earlier in a nightclub, were enjoying mutual touching when her friend woke up and ruined it with her screams.
A third woman in another bedroom rang the police and he was charged with attempted rape. A jury found him not guilty of indecent assault, last October 15, after a four-day trial at Teesside Crown Court.
Mr Gill, of Staindrop Road, Darlington, was also found not guilty of attempted rape after the Crown offered no evidence.
