RESIDENTS are in for a toe-tapping line-up of talent when east Durham holds its annual gala music festival.
The District of Easington event is in its tenth year and promises an even bigger and better programme than ever before.
Festivalgoers will be treated to a blend of musical styles, including brass bands, choirs, folk, blues, pop and rock.
Among the highlights of this year's festival, which will begin on Friday, October 4, will be a performance by guitarist and songwriter Peter Shoulder.
At only 18, his all-round talent and unique take on seventies British blues rock has sealed him a six album deal with Sony New York.
The more exotic and unusual flavour this year will be provided by a world music weekend, which includes an Indian Diwaii Festival.
The weekend of music will also provide an opportunity to participate in Central African music with an appearance by Robert Maeseko and Congoboat.
Other festival musical activities will continue from October 4 until November 3 at venues all over Easington District.
Tickets will be available from the Council offices, Seaham Town Council, and Peterlee Tourist Information Centre.
Councillor Jeff Gray, chairman of the council, said: "I am delighted to welcome such an amazing array of talented musicians to this year's festival.
"A whole host of bands will be playing around the district at venues such as the Rock Bar at Easington Colliery and the Wayfarer at Haswell.''
