THE countdown to Darlington Football Club's departure from its home of 120 years continues tonight.
Farewell to Feethams, an exhibition of 40 photographs celebrating decades of sporting ups and downs at the ground, is opening at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, in Newton Aycliffe.
The nostalgic pictures will be on display for a week, giving supporters from outside Darlington a chance to catch a glimpse before the much-hyped move to the new stadium on Neasham Road.
More than 6,000 people saw the exhibition at Darlington Arts Centre and organisers are hopeful of another big success in Newton Aycliffe.
Geoff Gale, of Darlington Supporters' Trust, said: "We would like to see the project travel to different areas prior to the new stadium opening so that supporters from throughout the fanbase can have the opportunity to see what has been achieved."
The Trust is planning to exhibit all the photos at the new ground - to provide a permanent record of the club's first home.
Radio Cleveland's Ray Simpson and the Evening Gazette's Andrew Wilkinson will be signing copies of their Farewell to Feethams book in the college at 7pm today.
The book features great matches and stories from such Darlington FC greats as Ron Greener, David Speedie, Mark Prudhoe and Kevan Smith.
The pair also signed copies for fans at Ottakar's bookshop, in Darlington, on Saturday, ahead of the club's home game with Bournemouth.
The exhibition at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre runs until Friday. Opening times are 9am to 9pm, with a 5pm closing on Friday.
