THE GO-AHEAD has been given for a complex to be built at Scarborough General Hospital to provide sterilization services for medical equipment.

A spokeswoman for the Scarborough NHS trust said planning permision had been given and funding was now allocated for the unit, which will be built on the site of the hospital's creche, which will be relocated.

"It will enable the trust to meet stringent EU standards for decontaminating sterile equipment," she said.

"It will be a great boon to the trust because we shall not only be able to provide our own sterile supplies but also for other organisations, such as clinics and GP surgeries.
