TRUSTEES for the 17th Century Sir William Turner's Almshouses at Kirkleatham are seeking a new clerk to the trustees to take over from December.

The post was created more than half a century ago when the Kirkleatham Estates handed over the control of the Almshouses to a separate charity.

The clerk acts as a tour guide to visiting parties, completes the book-keeping and provides secretarial assistance for the full-time warden.

"Sadly, the job no longer carries a free house at the almshouses but we do pay the appropriate salary," said chairman of the trustees, Peter Sotheran.

Applicants should have basic computer skills and book-keeping knowledge. The clerk works between ten and 12 hours a week. Call (01642) 490401 or (01642) 471662 for more information.
