MORE than 200 former teachers, staff and students celebrated 40 years of Egglescliffe School, in Eaglescliffe.
The four headteachers who have run the school since it opened were all present.
The first, Frank Davison, still lives next to the school. The second, Alan Basset, travelled from the south coast for the celebration and the third, David Oliver, now spends most of the year in Scotland.
Current headteacher Angela Darnell said: "We were all delighted by the response. Lots of former pupils travelled considerable distances to attend the event. "
