YOUNGSTERS from Stockton helped raise more than £4,000 with a sponsored bike ride for the Leukaemia Research Fund as part of the Blue Peter Bikeathon earlier this year.
The 350 children, aged between five and 15, cycled the Castle Eden Walkway and most of them cycled back.
Ian Bond, countryside ranger, said: "I was amazed at how much the children managed to raise.
"It was so successful and so much fun we will be repeating it next year," he said.
The date has already been arranged for next year's event for Sunday, May 4. This year's event in Stockton was one of 71 around Britain, with more than 20,000 children taking part nationwide.
So far, nearly £500,000 has been raised with the children from Stockton raising £4,693.
The event was boosted by an appearance from the cast of TV's Byker Grove, and was started by Olympic cyclist Chris Newton.
