A jealous lesbian flew into a violent rage when she saw her lover talking to another woman.
Leanne Doran, 27, hit Mandy Walker, 36, so hard that she broke a membrane in her eye.
Miss Walker still has blurred vision in her left eye after the attack on December 28, last year.
Miss Walker, who is separated from her husband and has two children, aged 15 and four, had been enjoying a night out with Doran - her lover of six months - and three other women when the 27-year-old suddenly snapped.
She said Doran had been possessive throughout their relationship but her behaviour that night led to the break-up.
Doran yesterday pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Miss Walker and will be sentenced in three weeks.
Speaking after the hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Miss Walker said: "I had been talking to someone for too long and she didn't like it. The woman I was talking to has been a friend of the family for as long as I can remember and there was absolutely nothing in it."
Miss Walker, of South Shields, said she still suffers from double vision and is due to have another operation but feels unable to go through with it.
She said she hoped Doran, who is divorced with two children, does not go to prison when she is back before the court to be sentenced.
Doran, of Baring Street, South Shields, was warned that all options, including a prison sentence, will be open to the court when she is sentenced next month.
