YOUNGSTERS are enjoying fun-filled playtimes after new facilities were installed at their school.
The adventure play unit and trim trail at Sherburn Village Primary School were officially opened by John Bowman, chairman of the school governors, yesterday.
They have cost the school more than £15,000 and the apparatus will be used by pupils at playtimes and in PE, and also by the Butterfly Playgroup, which shares the premises.
Mr Bowman said: "We were thrilled to receive a grant of £2,300 from the Lottery grants for local groups, Awards for All, and a donation from Sherburn Parish Council.
"The grant was a large sum of money, without which our scheme could not have been financed.
"The National Lottery's Awards for All programme presents opportunities for local groups and, hopefully, this will alert others who might benefit similarly to the existence of the fund.
"Our pupils are very appreciative indeed and are looking forward to enjoying making good use of their play unit and trim trail."
