VIEWERS will be able to vote for a star student in a new series promoting adult learning.
Star Students is an 11-part series within Tyne Tees Television's North-East Today programme featuring stories of adults who have gone to great lengths to improve their reading, writing and maths.
The first part of the series, being shown at 2.30pm today, shows how 1980s pop star Kim Wilde has transformed her life by studying to become a garden designer.
The series will cover local study opportunities and give details of a new scheme making it easier to get time off work for learning, which is being piloted in the region.
A panel of judges will select four local finalists and in November, viewers will be able to vote for the person they believe is the star student.
