VOLUNTEER models who have had treatment for breast cancer will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk to show they do still have a "Licence to Live".
And in keeping with the James Bond theme, members of the Northumberland Breast Cancer Support Group had Jaws look-a-like Gary Tiplady on hand to promote the event.
Breast cancer nurse specialist Gill Starkey said: "Every October we hold breast cancer awareness events and always try to stage a promotion for it.
"Instead of having coffee mornings we have decided to hold a fashion parade this year.
"Victims of breast cancer have gone through an experience where their confidence reaches its lowest ebb.
"They had to endure chemotherapy, lost hair and mastectomies.
"Something like this fashion show enables them to see they can feel fantastic with themselves again. For some it will be the first time they have had themselves made up."
Linda Todd, 43, who will be taking part said: "I discovered in October last year I had breast cancer.
"I would never have thought then that a year on I would have gone through chemotherapy and hair loss had a mastectomy and then got back to part time work. "Knowing we can get up there on the catwalk is fantastic."
Licence to Live featuring more than 20 models, both men and women, will be staged at the Newcastle Civic Centre, on October 23 and 24.
Tickets cost £10 and are available on 0191-242 0001.
