A BUS from the North-East will bear a message to the Labour party conference next week.
The National Federation of Bus Users' chairman Dr Caroline Cahm is to address a fringe meeting at the Labour Party conference in Blackpool, on Tuesday, and her message will be backed up by a fleet of 14 buses from across the country.
Among them will be a bus from Go North East, which will be leaving Gateshead Metro station the previous morning and will carry a message from Go North East to the party conference, stating, "Buses can deliver transport solutions - give us the tools and we'll do the job".
Dr Cahm will be encouraging politicians to take radical action to encourage more people to use buses by introducing measures such as bus lanes and traffic lights which favour buses and cut their journey times.
Martin Harris from Go North East said: "Although funds are available, progress on delivering adequate bus priorities is slow in Tyne and Wear."
The 14 buses from as far as Edinburgh and Plymouth will converge on Blackpool on Monday, driving in convoy for the last few miles.
