NORTH-East audiences will have the chance to see a smash hit comedy in the region next month.
After a sell-out run in London's West End, The Play What I Wrote will appear at the Theatre Royal, in Newcastle, for a week from Tuesday, October 15.
Award winning actor and director Kenneth Branagh directs Sean Foley, Hamish McColl and Toby Jones in the play, celebrating one of England's greatest double acts - Morecambe and Wise.
It was written by Sean Foley and Hamish McColl, collectively known as The Right Size, and Morecambe and Wise scriptwriter Eddie Braben.
Mr Foley and Mr McColl won the 1999 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment for their comedy Do You Come Here Often, and Mr Braben won five Writer of the Year awards from the Writers Guild of Great Britain for his work with Morecambe and Wise, as well as a Bafta shared with the comedy duo and producer John Ammonds.
The Play What I Wrote features a surprise celebrity in every show, and past performances have included Roger Moore, Ewan MacGregor, Joanna Lumley, Dawn French, Ralph Fiennes and Sting.
Tickets and information are available from the box office, on 0870 905 5060.
